Carved Star Dining Chair
The majestic mahogany tree was typically found growing in a solitary location and was harvested almost to extinction. Genuine mahogany trees are now grown in commercial and governmental plantations that provide sustainable sourcing for generations to come. This antiqued finished, mahogany ladder back dining chair is crowned with a top rail of chevron parquetry (lots of pieces of wood which creates a pattern put together by a skilled craftsman) with a carved 5-point star. Mahogany wood has been historically the backbone of high-end furniture. The visual beauty of genuine mahogany is it’s satin grain of swirls and a warm brown-red finish. The dining chair back has two additional arched supporting cross rails bridged between spindle posts. Turned front legs and matching front rung completes this impeccably beautiful and scaled frame that is stained and sealed to amplify the look of the wood then upholstered and welted in vintage hand rubbed and an upholstered ‘cush for the tush’ polished brown leather seat.
A chair this timeless and smartly constructed makes an impactful design statement alone, paired, or as part of a larger group seating situation.
