A Faithful reproduction of a Washington family blanket chest that was most recently part of the Althorp estate collection in England and was certified and authenticated, in 1877, by a local priest as belonging to the Washington’s before they immigrated to America. Original English design circa 1650.
This solid oak blanket chest, with round edge top and safety hinges set above paneled back and sides. The front is carved with ovals, and intricate scroll worked borders in relief. Stained in the style of the period and clear sealed for luster and protection. Finished inside and out with period lock and key and is ventilated at the bottom for proper storage of linens.
A very handsome chest that meets a multitude of purposes and works in a number of spaces all while giving a nod to the rich history it represents.
