Yakisugi End Table
The Yakisugi Bahia Wood End Table is a solid block of wood with a wedge of dramatic contrasting color perfectly place in the middle holding the round glass top. All genuine bahia wood is prized for its deep rich wood grain. The base has been hand charred in a technique called Shou Sugi Ban.
Yakisugi is the end result of using the Shou Sugi Ban technique: a centuries old finishing technique from Japan. The obsidian black finish is particularly striking method of preserving wood by charring it with fire in order to weatherproof it. The wood typically is burned by hand until the surface is charred, and then coated with natural oil. The finished product is yakisugi.
This glass top wood end table is very sculptural and artistic. You can place between chairs or outdoor in a loggia area. Definitely a conversation waiting to happen.
