What does a great room have that you don’t? Courage.
A great room typically has more elements than you might feel comfortable with. The scale of the room is the greatest challenge and items are all on proportion to the dimensions of the room. What does that mean to you? Typically, the response is to put a smaller scale into any size room. If the room is larger than 10 feet by 10 feet you should err on the side of smaller furniture. I cannot tell you how many times we have been told by the client, “I think that table, sofa, rug, etc. is too big”. Go Big! Use fewer items. BIG creates a drama that most rooms are missing.
Today’s mantra: Live Large.
