Supporting Local Artisans

As a small, local business with showrooms in Dallas and Houston, Texas, we prioritize working with local artisans whenever possible. We are a "small business helping other smaller businesses" thrive. The design and manufacturing of exclusive designs by and for The Arrangement use suppliers from managed, sustainable forests, respecting the interests of local communities and artisan workers

Sustainable Collections

Our commitment to sustainability is reflected in Snedeker's collections of sustainable woods, metals, and stone. Responsible purchasing from small artisans and members of the Sustainable Furnishings Council sets The Arrangement apart from unsustainable logging and forest destruction. Notably, 36% of our total sales are upholstery products made in the USA.

Certified Wood and Longevity

The wood frames for our upholstery chairs and sofas from our largest suppliers are certified from managed forestry woods. Primarily using oak, these structural frames ensure longevity, with any given piece lasting 20 to 50 years, qualifying our furniture as "green" and "sustainable." The Arrangement is committed to using certified wood whenever available in our designs.

Progress in Sustainable Sourcing

In 3, we tracked a 87% success rate in using reclaimed, recycled, and sustainable materials. Through continuous education on sustainably sourced products, we have achieved a rate of approximately 89% in eco-friendly sourcing. Katherine Snedeker, a certified SFC GreenLeader, helps advance conservation policies and implement "green" practices at work and in clients' homes.

FSC Certification and Reforestation

The Arrangement proudly reports that over 38% of the wood we purchase or sell is certified under the FSC certification system and/or acceptable plantation wood. Some of our vendors also have reforestation programs, actively planting trees where timber is sourced.

Our Goals for 2025

We're making measurable commitments to design more sustainable furniture and to improve our impact.

  • Achieve 40% FSC-Certified furniture by 2025
  • Launch and support a Reforestation Program
  • Increase Use of Reclaimed, Salvaged, and Ethically Sourced Timber to 95% by 2025
  • Promote online sales of sustainable furniture to reach more eco-conscious customers
  • Reduce carbon footprint in shipping and packaging by adopting eco-friendly solutions

Transparent Reporting and Community Engagement

Some vendors participate in reforestation programs to replant trees where timber is sourced. The arrangement aims to publicly report progress on responsible sourcing goals via email and posts quantitative targets on its website.

Refurbishing and Community Support

We strive to refurbish, recover, and renew our products for existing clients to reduce landfill waste. We've provided a fact sheet on consigning furniture locally or donating to charity furniture banks, extending the life of our products and keeping them in circulation.

1Sustainable Furnishing Council Check out their website
"Sustainable" or "environmentally-safe" or "eco-friendly" furnishings are made and distributed in ways that protect our planet. SFC members take immediate steps to minimize carbon emissions, waste stream pollutants, un-recyclable content and primary materials from unsustainable sources from any product platform under their control. We are proud to recommend these companies to you during your search for healthy, pro-planet furnishings.
2Sustainable Forest Certification Check out their website
Sustainable Forest Certification is to help consumers recognize verified sustainable forest management by labeling forests and the wood products from those forests as being certified. The FSC label provides assurance of legal, sustainable forest practices. It provides added assurance that a forest company is operating legally, sustainably and in compliance with world-recognized standards for sustainable forest management. Choosing FSC Certified wood and paper products means it comes from sustainably managed forests and helps to protect old growth forests - which is good for all of us!
