Are you looking to put your house on the market? Or maybe you simply want to improve your home design? Shaw Floors suggests there are a few steps that you can take to increase the value of your home.
The Living Room
When it comes to fixing up your house, take it one room at a time. Make a list of what you want for each room so that the process doesn’t get overwhelming. We like to start in the living room where lighting is key. Window treatments and mirrors move natural light throughout the area. However, don’t go overboard with lighting; if it’s too brightly lit the garish shadows will turn people away. We suggest a dimmer to add a dramatic element to the space and make it more visually stimulating.
The Kitchen
As you may have guessed, the kitchen is where you should invest the most. It’s often where people entertain guests and the family spends a lot of their time. It’s also where buyers tend to head straight for. The overall appearance of your kitchen isn’t as important as the flow of the space. The room is a work space in addition to a gathering area. Make sure there’s a flow within the space: Is the dishwasher too close to the sink? Are there stools or chairs interrupting the pathway? Ask these questions to ensure the area is as effective as it can be.
These are just two great places to start. We suggest checking out our previous posts for more design inspiration. And don’t forget to stage any area of the house people will tour to ensure a great selling experience.
