Tips for a More Restful Bedroom

Decorating & Interior Design

13 May

Having the right decor in your bedroom can lead to less stress and a better night’s sleep.

1. Go BIG!

We recommend avoiding small nightstands, especially if you have a queen or king size bed. If the bed is large, get bigger nightstands or get a smaller dresser instead. Scale-wise they work better to maximize the space and it offers up more storage.

2. Avoid using the nightstand for clutter.

A nightstand is intended for the handful of items that you need immediately accessible. If you need more space, a nightstand with drawers will do the trick. Also, if your nightstand is free from clutter, you can place a lamp on it to add more flair to your design.

3. Matchy-matchy is silly-silly.

We don’t like matching bedroom sets, because there is no variety. The space appears more crowded, things aren’t bought specifically for your style, and pieces are ill-fitted because they were a set. The dresser is too big, there is a piece you never use, or something doesn’t fit in the space. Buy exactly what you need for your style in the bedroom.

4. Vintage is always in style.

Vintage furniture has a lot of features that are beautiful AND useful, like hidden drawers and compartments. Be on the lookout for multifunctional pieces, like a desk that can also hold your jewelry on top of it.
